The Nordic Connection

A quieter connection to the North runs through Sicily.

In the 11th century, Norse warriors travelled south, drawn into the shifting powers of the Mediterranean. Some arrived as mercenaries, others stayed — and became part of what would later shape the Norman rule of Sicily.

With them came something that still lingers: a sense of light, simplicity, and restraint. A different way of inhabiting space.

In Palazzo di Cola, it remains quietly present — in the balance between worn surfaces and clean lines, between ornament and calm.

A meeting of North and South, held in place by time.
